How to remove the lock screen wallpaper on iPhone
Apple has taken a service by introducing Lock Screen customization in iOS 16. Though it also annoys us by not allowing mass deletion. Furthermore, the background image is not affected even if you delete the image from Photos.
So here’s how you can delete wallpapers in iOS 16. And keep in mind that you’ll have to repeat the steps for every iPhone wallpaper you want to delete.
Step 1: Press and hold the Lock Screen, until the Wallpaper gallery pops up.
Note: This doesn’t work if you’re using a passcode because you’ll have to use Face ID or Touch ID to unlock your iPhone.
Step 2: Swipe left or right to find the wallpaper you want to delete.
Step 3: When found, swipe up the wallpaper.
Step 4: Click the Delete icon.
Step 5: Next, tap Remove this wallpaper to confirm action.
Thankfully, the process is pretty simple. However, we have a little trick to save you time and energy.
Instead of deleting, replace it with a new wallpaper. This way you won’t need to delete old wallpapers and still get rid of them.
How to change iPhone lock screen wallpaper on iOS 16
Step 1: Touch and hold the Lock Screen to open the Wallpaper gallery.
Step 2: Select the wallpaper you want to change.
Step 3: Click Customize.
Step 4: Here, select Lock Screen.
Step 5: Tap the Gallery icon from the bottom left of the screen.
Step 6: Select the background image you want to add.
Step 7: Adjust if necessary and tap Done.
Note: If you are using different wallpapers for your Lock Screen and Home screen, select Home screen in Step 4 to replace the Home screen wallpaper.
Another way to replace iPhone wallpaper
You can also replace the wallpaper from iPhone Settings, here’s how:
Step 1: Go to Settings and select Wallpaper.
Step 2: Swipe left or right and select the wallpaper you want to change.
Step 3: Tap Customize, (the one on the left for the Lock Screen and the one on the right for the Home screen).
Step 4: Select the Library icon in the lower left corner of the screen.
Step 5: Search and select the wallpaper you want.
Step 6: Adjust if necessary and tap Done.
How to remove iPhone wallpaper from Photo Shuffle
If you want to delete the entire Photo Shuffle album, the method of removing the iPhone Lock Screen wallpaper above is enough. Even so, if you want to remove one or more backgrounds from your Photo Shuffle album, here’s what you need to do.
Note: If you have selected Use Featured Image in the Image Shuffle wallpaper, you cannot remove the photo from the background image.
Step 1: Touch and hold the Lock Screen and find the Photo Shuffle wallpaper.
Step 2: Tap Customize then Lock screen.
Step 3: Select the Photo Shuffle icon from the bottom left corner.
Step 4: Tap Select from the bottom right of the screen.
Step 5: Select the wallpapers you want to delete.
Step 6: Click the Delete icon.
Step 7: Select Done to confirm and Done again.
You can also go to Settings → Wallpaper → choose a background Image Shuffle → repeat steps 3 to 7 above.
Tip: To add more backgrounds to the Shuffle Photos album, tap Add Photo → select a photo → tap Done → Done again → and Done again to save the changes.
