Instagram gathers all likes, comments and reactions in the form of a virtual currency. Sometimes it can be overwhelming for some people and they want to stop using Instagram permanently. So deleting the account is the last step, but before you jump the gun, you need to do a few things.
To ease your Instagram addiction, you can always use Screen Time functionality on Android and iPhone. But it’s like a temporary lock on your Instagram usage. Besides, it is very easy to bypass the time limit and get more time to browse the Instagram feed.
You can also temporarily disable your Instagram account, but that doesn’t serve the purpose either. Instead, it opens the door for you to return to the same Instagram addiction in the future.
By logging in again, you can easily reactivate your Instagram account. The permanent solution is to delete your Instagram account once and for all. Here’s how to delete your Instagram account on the web.
Things To Note Before Deleting Instagram Account
Before you go ahead and delete your Instagram account, let us warn you about the possible consequences.
When you delete your Instagram account, your profile, photos, videos, comments, likes and followers will be permanently deleted. Even if you create a new Instagram account with the same username in the future, you won’t have the previous number of followers, photos, likes, etc.
If you just want to take a break from using Instagram, you can always deactivate your account instead. That way you won’t lose data and other details in the app.
After Instagram deletes your account, you can try to sign up again with the same username, as long as it hasn’t been taken by another user.
Finally, you cannot delete your account using the Instagram mobile app. You’ll have to use your Instagram web or mobile browser to delete your account.
