Samsung offers a native Gallery app on all Galaxy phones. It is full of useful features and comes with OneDrive integration. This app competes with the Google Photos service on Android. Users can easily create albums and share them with others using the Gallery app and Google Photos. This is how you create and share photo albums on your Samsung phone.
First, we will use the default Gallery app to create photo albums on Galaxy phones. We’ll then take Google Photos as an example of a third-party app for creating and sharing photo albums. Let’s start with the Gallery app.
1. Using the Samsung Gallery app
The Gallery app on your Galaxy phone has a lot of photo/video editing options. Users can also create photo albums on it. This is the way.
Create an Album
Step 1: Open the Gallery app on your Samsung Galaxy phone.
Step 2: Go to the Picture tab.
Step 3: Long press on a photo to select it. Select multiple photos that you want to add to the album.
Step 4: Click the Add button at the bottom.
Step 5: Select Move to Album.
Step 6: Click Create in the upper right corner.
Step 7: Give your album a relevant name and select Create.
Step 8: Move to the Album tab you will see the newly created album at the bottom.
Now that you’ve created an album on the Gallery app, it’s time to share it with friends and family. Go through the steps below.
Step 1: Open the Gallery app and go to Albums.
Step 2: Long press on an album and tap Share at the bottom.
Step 3: You have two options to choose from. You can share albums via Quick Share (Samsung’s sharing solution) or Nearby Share (native Android sharing method).
Alternatively, you can tap the hamburger menu and go to Share Album. Tap Get Started and create a shared album.
You can now use contacts or Samsung email IDs from others to share albums with them.
This method can be confusing for people who don’t have a Samsung ID. The previous method for sharing albums using the Gallery app would only share photos. You can’t collaborate with others in real time by letting them make changes.
2. Use the Google Photos app
Google Photos was born to overcome the limitations of the Samsung Gallery app. Google’s Photos hosting service plays an important role in sharing. First create an album on it and then share it with others.
Create an Album
Step 1: Open Google Photos app on your Samsung Galaxy Phone.
Step 2: Go to the Photos tab and select the photos you want to add to the new album.
Step 3: Long press on the photo and tap the + icon at the top.
Step 4: Tap on Albums from the bottom menu.
Step 5: Give it a title. When adding a title, you also have the option to attach the location to the album. Tap the location icon at the top.
Before creating an album, you can tap the photo icon at the top and add more photos to the album.
Select Ok at the top and you’re good to go with the album created in Google Photos on your Galaxy phone.
You can check out your newly created album from the Gallery menu in the Google Photos app.
Unlike the Gallery app, you don’t have to worry about other users not having a valid email ID. Most users have a Google email ID to start with. You can easily share albums with them and even better, let them add good memories to the shared album.
Step 1: Open Google Photos and go to the Gallery menu.
Step 2: From the Album menu, tap the Album you want to share.
Step 3: It will open the album. Select Share.
Step 4: You have two options here. You can directly share the album with others or get a link.
Step 5: Click create link. The link will be copied to your device’s clipboard.
Now tap the three-dot menu at the top and select Options. Turn on Photo Location Sharing and Collaboration (if you want others to have access to the link to add their photos to the album).
What’s the point of taking hundreds of photos when you don’t know how to effectively share them with others? Use the Gallery app instead if other users have Samsung IDs. Otherwise, you can use Google Photos to create and share albums on your Galaxy phone.
