Instagram has finally introduced the much-awaited Collaboration feature, allowing you to team up with your friends while sharing posts and Stories. This definitely makes things easier as there is no need to share the same post from two separate accounts and also allows you to reach a wider audience.
Unlike tagging, you can only collaborate with one person other than yourself. We’ll cover how Collaboration works and how you can send, accept, and retrieve Instagram Collaboration invitations. So without further ado, let’s dive into it.
How to send an invitation to collaborate on Instagram
To send an invitation to collaborate on Instagram, you need to use a public account. That means you can collaborate with that person even if their account is private.
Other than that, here’s how to send an invite to collaborate on Instagram from your phone.
Step 1: Launch the Instagram app on your Android or iPhone and tap the + icon in the top right corner to create a new post.
Step 2: Now, select the media you want to collaborate on uploading and tap the Right Arrow. Edit your post as usual and tap the Right Arrow again.
Step 3: Now go to Tag People option.
Step 4: Tap the Invite Contributor option and use the search box that appears to find the user you want to invite to Collaborate.
Note: If your account is private, you won’t get the ‘Invite collaborators’ option.
Step 5: Once added, you’ll see their name appear as a Contributor. You can tap the Edit collaborator button if you accidentally select the wrong account. Finally, review your post details and click the right check mark in the top right to publish your post.
As soon as the post is published, the other person will receive an invitation to Collaborate via Direct Message, and they can accept the Collaborative invitation sent from there.
How to accept or decline an invitation to collaborate on Instagram
Once you’ve received an invitation to Collaborate, here’s how to view and respond to an Instagram Collaboration invitation.
Step 1: Open the Direct Message you received on Instagram. Click the View Invitation button to view the post for which you received a Collaboration request.
Step 2: Now tap the Rate button to reply to that invitation. You can Accept or Decline the request from here.
After you accept the request, the post will be shared with all your followers and also appear in your profile.
How to revoke an invitation to collaborate on Instagram
If you no longer want to collaborate with that person or you sent a collaboration request to the wrong person, you can also revoke a collaboration request on Instagram by simply untagging them from the post. Read on to find out how.
Step 1: Go to your collaborative post on Instagram. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right and select Edit from the resulting menu.
Step 2: Here, tap on the ‘N Person’ option at the bottom left. Now tap the cross icon next to the invitee’s name to untag them and revoke the invite to collaborate.
Step 3: Finally, touch the tick on the right to save the changes.
That’s it. The invitee will no longer see the invitation. However, they will see the post you invited as a direct message.
How to remove yourself from collaborated posts on Instagram
If you want to end the collaboration and stop sharing posts from your profile, you can easily remove yourself from the collaborated post.
To remove yourself from an Instagram collaboration, navigate to the collaboration. Now tap on the three-dot menu icon in the upper right and select the Stop Sharing option from the list. Tap Stop Sharing again when prompted.
Once done, Instagram will remove your name from the collab and remove the post from your profile.
