Whenever you visit a new location or navigate somewhere using Apple Maps, your location history continues to be saved by Apple. It mainly tracks Important Locations i.e. the places you visited most while carrying your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
If you want to know details about where you were last week or track where your kids are, here’s how to check location history on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Make sure you are using the latest software version on your respective devices.
How to check location history on iPhone
The iPhone is often the only Apple device that goes everywhere. So let us start with how to view location history on your iPhone. Your location history is also tracked when you bookmark a location in the Photos app.
Here is the same test.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap Privacy and Security.
Step 3: Tap Location Services.
Step 4: Scroll to the bottom and tap on System Services.
Step 5: Scroll down and select Important Locations.
You may be asked to authenticate with Face ID and Passcode.
You will see your last visited location and see all the previous locations you visited.
If you can’t see any data, make sure that the Important Location feature is turned on.
To clear your location history, click Clear data at the bottom and confirm again by tapping Clear history.

How to check location history on iPad
If you mainly take your iPad with you when you travel outdoors, here’s how to find your location history.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPad.
Step 2: Scroll down the left menu and tap on Privacy and Security.
Step 3: Select Location Services.
Step 4: Scroll to the bottom and tap on System Services.
Step 5: Scroll down and tap on Important Locations.
You’ll see all of your recent locations and the important locations you’ve recently visited.
Of course, you’ll have to enable Key Locations to use this feature.
To clear your location history, click Clear data at the bottom and confirm again by tapping Clear history.
How to Check Location History on Mac
You can check your recent locations on Apple devices, including Macs. Your approximate location is determined using information from local Wi-Fi networks and is collected by Location Services in a way that does not personally identify you. Here’s how to test the same on your Mac.
Step 1: Press the keyboard shortcut Command + Spacebar to open Spotlight Search, type System installation, and press Back.
Step 2: Click Privacy & Security from the left menu.
Step 3: Click on Location Services.
Step 4: Scroll to the bottom and click Details next to System Services.
Step 5: Click Details next to Important Locations.
You’ll see all of your recent locations and the important locations you’ve recently visited.
Clear location history on Mac
Here’s how you can delete all location data collected on your Mac.
Step 1: Press the keyboard shortcut Command + Spacebar to open Spotlight Search, type System installation, and press Back.
Step 2: Select Location Services under Privacy and Security.
Step 3: Scroll down and click Details next to System Services.
Step 5: Click Details next to Important Locations.
Step 6: Click on the three dots on the bottom left.
Step 7: Click on Clear data.
Step 8: Click Clear History to confirm.
Step 9: Click Done at the bottom right to confirm.
If you keep your Important Location turned on, the data will reappear after a while and you can check your location history.
Check your recent location
You can check your location history on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac to get app recommendations based on the places you visit frequently. But sometimes, you can request to track the real-time location of your friends and family. You may be asked to share your current location.
