Recently, an update to Google Chrome changed the default language of the YouTube website for some weird reason. All text on YouTube appears in Hindi while I have set English as my default language. I discovered it while troubleshooting Chrome’s misleading auto-login.
I noticed that even the YouTube mobile site sometimes shows text in Hindi. If you are also facing this problem, you have come to the right place. Here we will tell you how to change YouTube language.
Before we start, it’s important to know that changing YouTube language won’t affect suggested or trending videos. They vary according to your location unless you reside in a country such as India, where language settings are important for trends or videos to show up on your home screen.

The problem is like this. If I open the YouTube website directly on my mobile, the language will be English but if I open the YouTube link from Instagram or some other app, the title will be in Hindi.
The steps mentioned below should work in both cases. Here’s what you need to do.
Step 1: On the YouTube mobile site, tap the three-dot icon in the top right corner. From the pop-up menu, choose Settings.
Note:
Step 2: On the next screen, tap Language. Then select the language.

Bonus Tip: Turn on Dark Mode
So you’ve noticed the YouTube dark theme in the screenshot posted earlier. Well, YouTube recently launched its much-awaited dark mode and it’s also available in Google Chrome. It is very easy to switch YouTube to dark mode on all platforms.
Dark Mode on Android
On the YouTube mobile app, tap the profile picture icon on the home screen. Then go to Settings > General. Enable Dark theme.
Dark Mode on iOS
Tap the profile picture icon in the top right corner on the main screen of the YouTube app on your iPhone or iPad. Then tap Settings and enable Dark Theme.
Web Dark Mode
On the YouTube website, click the profile picture at the top to open the menu. Then tap Dark Theme and toggle the switch to turn it on.
Fix it!
I know YouTube is not for text but one has to read the title, right? It’s pretty annoying that you can’t read YouTube titles if they’re in another language. But thanks to the above steps, you can now easily change the language. And if you want, you can now legally download YouTube videos too.
