How to Change Double Tap or Default Reaction on Instagram Messages

Quick Tips

• The default reaction for Instagram messages is the Heart emoji.
• You can easily change it to another emoji by long-pressing a message > tapping (+) > Customize. Select a different emoji.

Change Double Tap or Default Reaction on Instagram Messages

Step 1: Go to your DMs in the Instagram app and open any message thread.

Step 2: Long-press on any message and select the + icon.

Step 3: Tap on Customize next to Your Reactions and choose the emoji from the top panel to set it as the default reaction emoji.

Step 4: Press the Checkmark icon at the top to save the changes. This new emoji will now be sent whenever you double-tap on a message.

Few Tips:

1. When you tap the Customize button, you can also change or replace the other emojis appearing in the row when you long-press a message.
2. Long-press a message to show the emoji panel. Then, long-pres any emoji to send animated emojis all over the screen.

Sadly, No. The default reaction for posts and reels is the Heart emoji only.
