Once you’re friends with your horse, you can have it breed with another horse in your batch by choosing the options below (of course, you need a mare and stallion to breed successfully).

  • Click on the horse.
  • Click on Friendly interactions and more options.
  • Click ‘Animate…’
  • Then, ‘Encourage breeding with…’
  • This will open a list of available horses; Choose the one you want to breed your horse with and then watch the animation of the horses stroking.

From the same menu, you can also encourage your horses to socialize with each other, although this requires you to be good friends with the horse of your choice.

Once the horses have spawned, it will take some time to choose the interaction again.

It can be difficult at first to know if the interbreed interaction was successful. You will usually receive a purple notification that your horse is expecting a foal within three game hours if successful.

It’s worth noting that during the time your horse is pregnant, your Sim will not be able to go riding with them or take them to community work.

Horse pregnancies tend to be shorter than Sims pregnancies, once our horse received the confirmation notification that she was pregnant, she went into labor exactly one day and 6 hours later (for a total of 30 in-game hours).

Once she is in labor you can prompt her to continue by calling her horse to her bed and then choosing the interaction to ‘Soothe Labor’.

You can leave your horses and they will eventually give birth anyway, however choosing the earlier interaction will help speed up the process.

Once born, your foal will have a mix of traits from each parent, as well as inheriting physical attributes from both.

Our colt above, inherited his coat, Friendly and Energetic traits from the Stallion, while he inherited his coat color and Independent traits from the Mare.

Our foal also gained the “Playful” Breeding Trait, which means he gets improvements from playing with toys and Sims.
