How to Block Someone Who Blocked You on Facebook

When someone blocks you on Facebook, it stops you from contacting, seeing, or tagging them. However, they can still see your Facebook activity, now, isn’t that unfair? Then let’s level the field and block someone who has already blocked you on Facebook. Although it’s not as easy as it seems, why?

Because blocking someone on Facebook who has already blocked you is different than blocking them first. We know it seems like a ‘they don’t know that we know they know we know’ kind of situation, but what are friends (we) for; here’s the solution.

Can You Block Someone Who Blocked You on Facebook

Yes, but as mentioned earlier, it’s a little more complex than blocking someone. For starters, to block someone, you give Facebook their user profile, as shown in the screenshot below.

However, since you’ve been blocked, you can’t see or share their profile, even with Facebook. So when you search for the profile now, you’ll not be able to find them. Hence you won’t be able to block them just like that.

As you can see, things have escalated from ‘we were on a break’ to it’s complicated (all pun intended, my friend).

How to Block Someone on Facebook Who Has Already Blocked You

To block a blocker, you’ll need their Facebook profile, which looks something like this https://www.facebook.com/john.doe. Obviously, you might have not this URL filed somewhere, so now there are two options,

1. Find Them on Google

Firstly, log out of your Facebook account (you can’t view their profile) or use a different browser or device. Then Google their name along with Facebook.

You might have to go through a few profiles before you get the right person. Moreover, it’s easier if the profile is public or at least has a recognizable profile picture. Otherwise, this is going to take some time and effort.

2. Call a Friend

Another option is to enlist a mutual friend’s help. They can either,

  • Go to Facebook web → find the person → open their profile and copy the URL.
  • Open the Facebook app → find the person → open their profile → tap the three-dot icon → Copy link.

Find Facebook Profile from Facebook app

Once you have the URL, we can proceed to block the person who has blocked you. However, the method only works for the Facebook App. It somehow is not supported for the Facebook web.

Block Someone From the Facebook App

Step 1: Launch the Facebook app and tap the three-line icon.

Step 2: Scroll down and select Settings & privacy → Settings.

Step 3: Scroll to find and click Blocking under the Audience and visibility section.

Go to Facebook Settings and select Blocking

Step 4: Tap ‘Add to blocked list’.

Step 5: Here, you’ll need to add the profile name or ID from the URL we gathered earlier. For instance, from the profile URL- https://www.facebook.com/john.doe, use only the ‘john.doe’ part.

Step 6: You might get a few options, find the person and tap Block next to their name.

And that’s it. You’ve successfully blocked the blocker off from your Facebook profile. Notably, this person will not be able to see anything on your timeline. Additionally, they won’t be able to post on your timeline, tag you, send you a friend request, message you, or send you invites.

In fact, even if they search your name on Facebook, they’ll not see your profile. Moreover, if they use Google or something, they’ll get a ‘This content isn’t available’ notification (barring they are logged into their Facebook account).

Let’s Ace the Blocking Game

While tit for tat isn’t the right way to deal with things, blocking someone who blocked you on Facebook might be an expectation. After all, why should they have the privilege to check your timeline when they have taken it away from you?

So, if you discover that you’ve been blocked and you’re salty about it, hopefully, our guide can bring you some peace by blocking them in return. As usual, for further queries, hit the comment section. And if you have more ‘Friends’ puns for us, jot them down as well.
