Hide Details Pane, Preview Pane & Navigation Pane In Explorer

Windows 7 explorer comes with a nice frame-based viewing feature. You can view file details in details pane, preview files in preview pane, and navigate to other files or folders with the help of navigation pane. However, sometimes, you will find that you don’t need these compartments and they just cause a mess and nothing else. If you don’t use these features then it’s better to remove them.

Windows provides an easy option to remove these panes. This post will show you how you can get rid of them to make the Windows explorer interface clutter-free.

1. Open Windows explorer. You can open it with the help of the keyboard shortcut “Win+E”. Given below is a screenshot of the explorer window with all three panes activated.

2. Go to Arrange -> Layout. Uncheck the cells you want to delete. You may want to keep the Details pane as it provides important information about the selected file like file size, file creation date, etc.
