There’s always a friend or other who likes to snoop on your phone. Be it a WhatsApp or Gallery chat, the moment they look at it, it’s like an open invitation. While app lock helps to lock down sensitive apps, if you ask me, I find it a bit annoying to use. Pressing a PIN or drawing a pattern every time I want to check an incoming message is not my cup of tea.

1. Use Nova Launcher
Nova is a great launcher and I guarantee its great customizability and ease of use. Adding another feather to its lid is the option to rename the app and edit the icon to your liking. And the best thing about this method is that you can do this using the free version of Nova.
All you need to do is long-press the app and tap Edit. Once the edit window opens, give the app a misleading name (probably Sim Tools for the FB messenger) and select even a misleading icon by tapping the icon. An icon with gears or wheels will confuse your enthusiastic friend.

2. Use Apex Launcher
Apex launcher has a better function when hiding apps from plain view. In fact, it has built-in functionality to do just that.
Go to the Drawer settings and tap on the Hidden Apps option. Select the apps of your choice and tap save. Ta-Da, the selected apps will be hidden from the app drawer.
Now comes the interesting part, how to access hidden apps? Well, the easiest way is to search for the app in the Google Search app. Simple as that.

3. Nova Launcher Prime
And if you have Nova Prime on your device, the Apex launcher script can also be reproduced in it. Here the option to hide apps is in the Apps and Utilities pane settings.
Once in, scroll through the apps drawer and select the app of your choice.
