Hack, Install Custom Firmware on Sony PSP-E1004 Street

Seeing that the 12-year-old was still alive in me, one of my best friends decided to give me a Sony PSP for this birthday. As soon as I unboxed it and played the game for a few minutes, I was curious about what else I could do on it other than just gaming all day (that’s the tech blogger in me). But when I search the internet, everything requires a custom firmware to run on the PSP and that is reason enough for me to install the custom firmware on my Sony PSP® E-1004 Street.

There are two ways you can run custom firmware on your PSP. One is a temporary hack and the other is a permanent hack. In the temporary hack, the PSP runs the custom firmware as long as it’s on/standby but after reboot everything goes back to default. On the other hand, a permanent fix means that the fix will remain even after restarting the PSP.

In this post we will see how we can use a temporary hack to use custom firmware on the PSP E-1004 Street. The advantage of using a temporary hack is that the device warranty is not breached and even if something goes wrong, you have no fear of bricking the device. Furthermore, reapplying the fix after restarting the PSP only takes a few seconds. So let’s get started

Things To Arrange.

  • PSP memory card to save files. Please use the memory card that you use regularly.
  • Memory card reader or PSP USB cable to attach memory cards to your computer.
  • Make sure your PSP is fully charged.

Conclusion

You can now install custom plugins on your PSP and use them as you please. We will see more posts about PSP customization in the coming days and the first one will be about installing custom themes on PSP.

Also, after installing custom firmware, you will be able to run modified ISO games on your PSP. You can use it to test a game, but we recommend buying an original PSP game if you’re going to play it.
