Get Volume Gesture Controls for YouTube Android App

Almost all Android Video Players provide gesture control to set volume and brightness when playing videos. It’s easy and handy to have this feature. Now, what if you had this feature in the official YouTube Android app? Maybe you’re too lazy to stretch your fingers with the volume buttons or pull down the notification bar to increase the brightness. Either way, if you’re interested in this feature then read on.

There are many apps on the Play Store that can give you gesture controls to perform different actions. However, that will affect the whole system. You need to have an app that can track a specific activity (like in our case a video playing in the YouTube app) and enable gesture controls for that particular activity. That way, the action taken will only affect the specific activity in the application, not the system as a whole. So here I want to share with you an app that will do exactly that.

Turn back the wheel of time : Previously, we shared with you a gesture based app that you will need, a Gesture Launcher to perform system tasks and a guide to setting up swipe gestures for external links on Android. So check them out.

Disturbing messages

As you can see in the screenshot above, you get a full sized banner asking you to buy the full version. Yes, this appears every time the brightness and volume are changed. It stays for about 2 seconds. But, it’s still annoying. The full version costs $2. If you really want this feature in the YouTube app then go for it.

Setting

In the app’s settings, you can set the swipe speed and enable the option to show the brightness and volume levels in percentages.

Any other way?

The free version of the app is sure to annoy you. However, the full version is worth buying (it also contains settings to tap anywhere to pause/start and auto brightness). However, if you have any other way to do this in the YouTube app then feel free to mention it in the comments and help other readers.
