Get Reminders with Visual Symbols Using Remindify

Sometimes, getting a complicated reminder with too many notes, tasks, or links can be confusing or downright frustrating. It’s even worse getting multiple of them or noticing them all lining up at once on your lock screen. Often you don’t need all of that to remember a key concept, you just need a quick visual cue.

The free iPhone app Remindify takes advantage of this idea. Instead of setting reminders for yourself in writing, all you do in Remindify is choose a time, date, and an icon to remind you exactly what you need to do. As a result, it’s quick to add reminders and even faster to get them and capture concepts – short, easy to understand, and straight to the point.

Set your visual reminder

First, if you haven’t already, you should probably download the free Reminders for iPhone and iPod touch. Thankfully, there are no special registrations or registrations to complete. Just launch the app, turn on notifications and get going.

Since the app is relatively new, it’s a stub for now, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t active. Touch Create a reminder in the bottom right to set your first reminder. The 30-day dates surrounding your current date appear horizontally at the top to select a date. Below, you have several preset times, manual timers, and visual icons to choose from for this reminder.

Tip: You should probably choose something other than the “General” reminder icon. This might seem pretty pointless, so scroll through some other categories like “Workout” or “Travel” to choose the one that best represents the task you need to complete. If you don’t see what you want right now, don’t worry, you can add more icons later.

When you’re done with your first reminder, tap the checkmark to add it on the date you choose.

Customize or repeat your reminders

If you feel like one of Remindify’s little icons might get you lost, you can add a little customization to the reminder if needed, but you can only do this after you’ve created the original reminder. head.

From here, just tap the prompt to see the four options associated with it. To add a very brief description, you can tap Description, although this defeats the purpose of the application. You can also press Repeat for recurring reminders – daily, weekly or monthly.

Finally, one of the two Editor time and date from this menu or touch Dismissed if it completes.

Choose which icon suits you best

The default reminder icon set isn’t all flexible or descriptive: there are only seven of them, and they’re for simple reminders like meeting someone, going home, or going to the gym. Fortunately, Remindify overcompensates for the rest of the icons. I’m not even entirely sure why many of these features aren’t enabled in the first place, but there are over 200 of them and they bring a lot of power to the app.

To add more icons to your favorites list for easy access, tap the icon Setting top right icon. Tap the green Plus icon next to whatever you think is relevant to your life. There doesn’t seem to be any order or structure to the arrangement of the icons, so take a moment to scroll through and pick the ones that work for you. Icons include everything from “Mark Calendar” to “Report a Problem” to “Listen to Album” to “Publish” and more. Be creative with it.

Visual aids are finally here

That’s all there is to know about Remindify…for now. Don’t forget, it’s new to the App Store, so it doesn’t have many features yet. With time and updates, it’s easy to see that Remindify can expand on the foundation it’s laid on to use helpful visual cues as daily reminders.
