Get Floating Lyrics For Play Music And Spotify On Android

MusiXmatch is arguably one of the best lyrics collections. They have over 25 million songs in their archive. And their newly updated Android app brings all the lyric goodness to your phone.

What’s better? It’s compatible with apps like Spotify, Rdio, and Play Music, so you don’t even need to switch players to display the lyrics. The synced lyrics for the song you’re playing in any compatible player will just float on the screen. It all works surprisingly well.

How to use FloatingLyrics with MusiXMatch

The new MusiXMatch Android app itself is a great music player. It looks and works a lot like the Play Music app, and to me that’s a great thing.

If you want, just use MusiXmatch’s app to listen to the music and see the lyrics scrolling. But you don’t have to.

To enable FloatingLyrics for supported apps (Spotify, Deezer, rdio, Rhapshody, Play Music), open the sidebar, go to Setting -> Notification, and make sure FloatingLyrics Enabled.

Now, just go to any supported app – my player of choice is Play Music – and start playing a song. Make sure MusiXmatch is running in the background. When you start playing, the floating player will automatically pop up and will scroll through the lyrics, which are synchronized with the song in time.

Cool Tip: You can double-tap the floating bar to take over manual scrolling control.

The FloatingLyrics widget is also resizable. Just tap and hold change the size at the bottom right and drag your fingers along the screen.

If you are using Spotify, you will have to visit Setting and turn on Broadcast status.

FloatingLyrics work like Facebook chatheads. As the name suggests, FloatingLyrics works like any other floating widget on Android. When active, it scrolls through whatever you do on the screen. There is an option to minimize the widget. When minimized, it takes the form of a circular chat head similar to that of Facebook Messenger. Drag the chat head to the bottom of the screen to dismiss it.

Other features in MusiXMatch worth using

Similar to Shazam and SoundHound, MusiXMatch has a live scan utility. From the sidebar, bring up Music ID and the app will recognize the song playing.

Karaoke Mode

there is something interesting karaoke in-app mode. The app will remove (or at least attempt to remove) the vocals from the track you’re listening to so you can sing along. The app recommends using headphones for best effect.
