Paintings can lead you to some amazing items in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, so check out all of the locations and their solutions right here.
“The Sacred Tower”
“The Sacred Tower” is likely the first painting that you’ll come across in the Land of Shadow, and it can be found in a small cave to the east of Scorched Ruins in Gravesite Plain.
Solution location
Starting at the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace, head north through the small lake and through a cave, taking you round to the west of the Shadow Keep and to the Ancient Ruins Base Site of Grace.
From here, head south towards Temple Town Ruins and look for a sealed spiritspring below a cliff to the east of the ruins. This should also be to the east of the Rauh Ruins Map Fragment.

Unseal the spiritspring by breaking the rocks found to the south – or by using Mohg or Margit’s Shackle – and then use it to head up onto the cliff. Head south past the Northern Nameless Mausoleum to the southwest part of the area, and you should find the ghost chair and the Spiraltree Seal.

As the name and painting suggest, it does also seem as if you need to have progressed the main path enough to have burned the tree at the Ancient Ruins of Rauh before this item becomes available though. However, that isn’t something I can confirm myself as I first encountered the ghost after doing this.
“Incursion”

Starting at the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace, head east towards Belurat but turn south to take a hidden path along the rocks at the bottom of the stairs. This should take you towards the Prospect Town and Cliffroad Terminus Site of Grace.
From there, continue south until you reach the Artist’s Shack at the bottom, where you’ll find the “Incursion” painting.

Heading north from the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace you’ll find a large lake with the Ghostflame Dragon boss sleeping. Head to the east of this lake to the land and you’ll find the ghost and the Serpent Crest Shield.
“Domain of Dragons”
The “Domain of Dragons” painting is easily the most hidden of the three, but to start you’ll need to access the Shadow Keep in Scadu Altus. The path where you’ll encounter the painting takes you to the Abyssal Woods eventually too, which we’ve detailed in full on our areas walkthrough.

Reaching the bridge with the burning boats, head past the midpoint and look for a gap on the left where you can use a ladder to drop down. Head west once you’re at the bottom of the ladder and through an arch obscured by pouring water.
Continue down the next ladder, and you’ll reach the room with the “Domain of Dragons” painting inside.

Understandably, a painting of the Domain of Dragons takes you to Jagged Peak. Starting from the Jagged Peak Mountainside Site of Grace, continue along the path until you reach the spiritspring.

Instead of using the spiritspring to continue upwards though, you’ll want to use it to land on a section to the west, which will eventually lead you to the ghost and the Rock Heart item.
