Dansby Swanson Wife: Meet Mallory Pugh

Dansby Swanson Wife: Meet Mallory Pugh – Swanson was born in the Georgia city of Kennesaw. His parents were both college athletes at Troy University, with his mother Nancy playing basketball and tennis and his father playing baseball and serving as an assistant coach.

Swanson grew up outside of Atlanta and was a lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball (MLB), frequently attending games at Turner Field.

He was a two-sport varsity athlete at Marietta High School in Georgia, where he played baseball and basketball. Swanson averaged 14 points per game and shot 44 percent from three-point range during his senior season with the Marietta Blue Devils.

Swanson was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 38th round of the 2012 MLB Draft, but he chose not to sign with them, instead honoring his commitment to play college baseball for the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Swanson had received offers from a number of universities, including Troy, Clemson, and Georgia Tech, but after speaking with coach Tim Corbin, he decided to attend Vanderbilt.

Swanson was a freshman for Vanderbilt in 2013, and injuries and youth limited him to only 11 games, four of which he started at shortstop. First, a broken bone in his foot sidelined him for six weeks.

He had a torn glenoid labrum when he returned from that injury. Swanson had shoulder surgery during the offseason.

When Tony Kemp left Vanderbilt after the 2014 season, Corbin asked Swanson to take over as the starting second baseman for the Commodores as a sophomore.

Swanson hit his first collegiate home run on February 28 during Vanderbilt’s 4-1 victory over Stanford.
