Trejo was born to Mexican-American parents, Delores Rivera King and Dionisio “Dan” Trejo. He has a maternal half-sister, Dyhan.
Trejo’s father frequently mistreated him. Trejo and his family briefly resided in San Antonio, Texas, shortly after he was born; they had to leave Los Angeles because Dionisio was wanted by police for stabbing another guy.

How did Danny Trejo go bankrupt?
Danny Trejo submitted a Chapter 11 personal bankruptcy petition in February 2023. Danny filed the paperwork after accruing an estimated $2 million in IRS debt.
In an interview he provided to TMZ on the day of the filing, he claimed that the debt was primarily due to erroneous deductions. According to reports, Trejo and the IRS came to terms with a payment plan under which he would pay off his debt by making four payments of $200,000 each until the beginning of 2028.
Danny’s ambitions, however, have been derailed by recent writer and actor strikes, and he might have to put one of his homes up for sale.
