Control Volume of Modern and Desktop Apps on Windows 10

Microsoft has created two different worlds for Windows users. One is the good desktop interface we are all familiar with along with the Modern Apps introduced with Windows 8. The modern look was launched targeting tablet and touch users. . But Microsoft never drew the line between two different worlds and what we got was chaos.

Volume control

Somehow, users were satisfied with the changes or relied on tweaks and alternatives to do it themselves at home. One of the recent changes in Windows 10 is a new sound control in the system tray. It only offers master volume control and requires a few additional clicks to get individual on-screen volume control. Plus you miss out on modern Apps and there’s no way you can simply lower the volume or mute them.

Therefore, today I will show you how you can get back Windows 7 lost volume control in Windows 10 system tray, and also, have selective control of Modern Apps menu in Windows ten.

Get Back the Classic Volume Control in Windows 10

Classic volume control is included in Windows 10, but it’s hidden after a few clicks, unlike Windows 7. A simple registry tweak was needed to make it the default feature. You can download the registry tweak directly from my cloud account and integrate with Windows 10. This will make the job really easy.

Before

All you need to do is download the zip file and extract it to your computer. Open folder and launch Enable Classic Block registry file and execute it as administrator.

That’s it, now when you click on the volume icon you will see the familiar options along with the mixer control option.

Afterward

If you want to revert, we’ve also included the registry file for that in the zipped folder.

Download Volume Mixer for Modern Windows Apps

The volume mixer for desktop mode restricts all access to desktop applications only. If you want similar functionality for Modern Apps, you’ll have to install the EarTrumpet app on your computer. Just download the .exe file on your computer and run the installation file.

Once the app is installed, you’ll see a trumpet icon in the system tray, from where you can control the sound of each app for modern apps. Also, since it’s a stand-alone app, you can use it side-by-side with the desktop volume mixer.

stingy

This application is very useful in case you are playing a modern game on Windows 10 and at the same time listening to some songs on the Edge browser. You can lower the volume of the game and enjoy the song at the same time. This is just one of many situations where it can be useful.
