Best moveset for Gallade in Pokemon GO & is it any good?

If you’ve just caught a Ralts in Pokemon GO, you might be wondering whether its final evolution Gallade is any good in the game and whether it’s worth the effort to get one.

Gallade is a Psychic/Fighting-type Pokemon introduced in Generation IV and a direct counterpart to Gardevoir. Let’s review the best moveset for Gallade and if it’s worth investing your time and resources into the Blade Pokemon.

Best moveset for Gallade in Pokemon GO

The best moveset for Gallade is Confusion as a Fast Move and Leaf Blade and Close Combat as Charged Moves.

While Gallade has access to the all-powerful Charm Fast Move, Gallade is a Psychic/Fighting-type Pokemon, so it doesn’t inflict bonus STAB Damage when using Charm. Furthermore, Charm is horrible at generating Energy, making Confusion the all-around better choice.

You won’t get STAB Damage when using Leaf Blade with Gallade, either, but regardless, this Charged Move is one of the best available for Trainer Battles. Leaf Blade only costs 35 Energy, so you can spam it to pressure your opponent into using their Shields.

Close Combat is a relatively technical move due to the fact that it debuffs the user, significantly lowering its Defence. However, when used strategically, Close Combat is deadly, as it deals 120 Damage at the cost of a paltry 45 Energy.

Aside from Synchronoise, all the moves accessible to Gallade are learnable with Fast TMs and Charged TMs. To learn Synchronoise, you must use an Elite Charged TM.

Is Gallade any good?

If you’re a technical Trainer who knows the ins and outs of PvP in Pokemon GO, you can get away with using Gallade in niche situations in the Great, Ultra, and Master Leagues. But if you’re still learning, you should probably avoid Gallade, as maximising the Blade Pokmeon’s potential requires a deep understanding of Pokemon GO PvP.

Gallade is a glass cannon that can deal huge damage with Confusion, Leaf Blade, Close Combat, but it’s very squishy, so it’ll fall quickly without Shields to protect it. Gallade’s moveset is rather atypical, too, so you’ll need to be intentional with how you use its moves if you want to find success in Trainer Battles.

When used correctly, Gallade can surprise opponents and serve as a counter to many of the top-ranking meta Pokemon, especially Water-types, thanks to Leaf Blade. If you’d prefer a more easygoing Pokemon, steer clear of Gallade because its lack of bulk and its reliance on complex moves leave much to be desired.
