6 best Meta Quest 3 games to play on your new VR headset in 2024

If you’ve just got yourself a new Meta Quest 3 headset over the holidays and are looking for some of the best games to play on it, you’ve come to the right place.

2023 was a great year for Meta’s headset, with it debuting but also receiving a slew of fantastic titles alongside the option to play some of the best Meta Quest 2 games, too.

All of those games can be tough to pick through, though, so we’ve rounded up the best Meta Quest 3 games to get you started in 2024.

Best Meta Quest 3 games in 2024

#6 – Ghostbusters Rise of the Ghost Lord

Ghostbusters Rise of the Ghost Lord details & key features:

  • Release date: 2023
  • Key features:
    • Great in co-op
    • Feel like a Ghostbuster
    • Crossplay with Quest 2 and PSVR 2

If ‘Bustin’ makes you feel good’, Ghostbusters Rise of the Ghost Lord will certainly have you grinning ear to ear as you chase all sorts of cheeky spectres through its maps.

Use your PKE meter and Proton Pack to track and contain your poltergeist prey, avoiding crossing the streams and squadding up with up to 3 friends with cross-play across Quest 2 and PSVR2.

#5 – Arizona Sunshine 2

Arizona Sunshine 2 details & key features:

  • Release date: 2023
  • Key features:
    • Lots of zombies
    • Fun combat
    • You can pet the dog

VR is a great place to just shoot some zombies, and while Arizona Sunshine 2 is a pretty fun, Zombieland-style caper, the undead can easily overwhelm you if you’re not careful.

Thankfully you’re armed with a variety of weapons to keep them a little further than arm’s length, but it won’t be easy, with manual reloading trickier than you’d think when the hordes approach.

Still, you do have an adorable canine companion you can stroke in VR, and you can even play fetch with some zombie limbs. Who says you can’t have fun in the apocalypse?

#4 – Vampire The Masquerade: Justice

Vampire The Masquerade: Justice details & key features:

  • Release date: 2023
  • Key features:
    • Looks great
    • Pretty gruesome in places
    • RPG skill tree

From zombies to vampires, Vampire The Masquerade: Justice is playable on Quest 2 but the stealth game is at its best on Quest 3.

Rather than avoiding bloodsuckers, you are one, and you’ll sneak through the streets of Venice at night to hunt down your prey before slinking back into the shadows in a stealth-action RPG.

It looks great, too, with impressive lighting and some lovely blood effects. It might even be the closest we get to Dishonored in VR.

#3 – Dungeons of Eternity

Dungeons of Eternity details & key features:

  • Release date: 2023
  • Key features:
    • Great in co-op
    • Plenty of weapons and loot
    • Surprisingly comfortable

Another game launched for Quest 3 but playable on its predecessor, Dungeons of Eternity may have a pretty generic name but it’s the closest thing to Diablo in VR – right down to being a blast in co-op.

Players work their way through the game’s dungeons, dodging traps, slaying monsters, and collecting loot, and it all feels great thanks to satisfying haptics and the ability to switch weapons through your holster so you can keep swapping out your loadout.

There’s little that’s breaking new ground, but for a VR game you can play with friends, there are few better.

#2 – Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR

Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR details & key features:

  • Release date: 2023
  • Key features:
    • Features three campaigns with an overarching narrative
    • Fun stealth and parkour
    • Impressive detail in environments and NPCs

We’re surprised it took this long to get an Assassin’s Creed VR game given the central narrative conceit of the franchise has been using a device to revisit the memories of historical figures, but Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR certainly does the series justice.

Parkour, stealth, stabbing, and, of course, the leap of faith are all present, translated nicely into VR for an experience that we’d admittedly only recommend enjoying once you’re acclimatised to VR.

Still, once you are, there are a trio of storylines between Ezio, Kassandra, and Connor from the series’ past to enjoy, and there’s star power in the meta-narrative with Morena Baccarin from Deadpool.

#1 – Asgard’s Wrath 2

Asgard’s Wrath 2 details & key features:

  • Release date: 2023
  • Key features:
    • Sprawling RPG with multiple playable characters
    • Great puzzles to solve
    • Fantastic combat

The best part of Asgard’s Wrath 2 is that you probably already own it since the game is included with purchases of the Meta Quest 3 headset.

If you were expecting a throwaway experience, you’ll find quite the opposite – Asgard’s Wrath 2 offers literally hundreds of hours of action RPG combat and puzzle-solving, with a variety of playable characters.

There’s so much to do and explore that it’s easy to forget there’s an entire roguelike mode included, too. It’s so good, in fact, that we scored it 5 out of 5.

Where’s Beat Saber? Meta Quest 2 games explained

You may have noticed some of the VR platform’s biggest hits are missing. That’s because while Meta Quest 2 games should run on the Meta Quest 3, they don’t come with any extra bells or whistles unless developers jump back in and build on them. As a result, everything on this list was released on Quest 3 right out of the gate.

So while Beat Saber, Iron Man VR, and Moss: Book II are phenomenal games you should definitely check out, they’re technically some of the best Meta Quest 2 games around.
