Trainers have been wondering if the returning Legendaries in the Indigo Disk DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are Shiny-locked.
With the huge amount of 25 Legendaries added to the game, it’s no wonder collectors are keen to know about the chance to collect multi-coloured variants. So, let’s dive into whether these Legendary Pokemon are Shiny-locked in this part two of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.
Are Legendaries Shiny-locked in The Indigo Disk?
Unfortunately, the Legendaries are Shiny-locked in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s Indigo Disk DLC.
This means that no matter how many times you close and reload your game to restart an encounter, none of the 25 Legendary Pokemon in this DLC can ever be Shiny.
This was confirmed by popular PokeTuber, Austin John Plays, who shared information from data miners displaying that each of the Legendary static encounters has been set to never appear as Shiny in the DLC.

Sword & Shield players, who experienced the same situation with The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra DLC, will be especially disappointed after hoping for a chance to catch Shiny versions of Legendaries they may have caught before.
Is there any way to get Shiny Legendaries in The Indigo Disk?
A workaround you can try is transferring Shiny Legendaries from Pokemon GO via Pokemon HOME. Following HOME’s latest update to make it compatible with The Indigo Disk, you’ll now be able to transfer Shiny versions of the Legendaries you’ve already caught.
Whilst this means you’ll need to Shiny-hunt the same Legendaries from GO instead, having those like Ho-oh, Raiku, or Groudon in The Indigo Disk means their Shiny sprites are still available in the game; you just can’t see them with the Shiny-locked versions available to catch in the DLC.
