Every new season of Fortnite comes with fresh weapons and items to use, so for that reason, I’ve ranked all the best guns in the game right now with a handy tier list so you don’t confuse your Striker AR with your Nemesis AR.
Chapter 5 Season 1 also introduced mods which let you personalise weapons to suit your play style. So if you prefer a weapon that zooms in, you can add a scope, or if you prefer to get up close and personal, you can add extra ammo capacity.
Best weapons in Fortnite
Three of the best weapons you can find in Fortnite right now are the Hyper SMG, the Enforcer AR, and the Frenzy Auto Shotgun. I’d also recommend having a Reaper Sniper Rifle in your loadout for long-distance takedowns.
There’s no doubt there will be a little bit of personal taste here, especially depending on which range you’re in whilst scrapping. For example, in a close-range battle, some may opt for a fast-firing SMG whilst others prefer a powerful shotgun.
Having said that, some weapons simply are better than others when it comes to the amount of damage they can deal or how useful they are in specific situations. We’ve ranked them all from S-Tier (the best) to C-Tier (the worst) below.
S-Tier weapons

| Frenzy Auto Shotgun | Common Uncommon Rare Epic Legendary | Right now, this is the best shotgun in the game due to its fast, automatic firing rate. If you find yourself very close up it can get you out of a jam. You also reload this gun all at once, which is unusual for a shotgun. It has a magazine size of 8. | Ballistic Shield | Epic | When looking at the key art for this season the Ballistic Shield plays a big part as the shiny new weapon of this season. | Reaper Sniper Rifle | Common Uncommon Rare Epic Legendary | A sniper rifle works well when trying to fight from a range, and although you can put sniper scopes on ARs now, it still doesn’t come close to a weapon like this. B-Tier weapons

| Thunder Burst SMG | Common Uncommon Rare Epic Legendary | I am not a huge fan of burst weapons in Fortnite and that’s why the Thunder Burst SMG is so low down. Admittedly, it is still an SMG so can be very handy, but in comparison to other close-range options, it’s not as effective.
