“Apologize to Lisa” is Trending on Twitter after Spotify’s Mistake

The phrase “Sorry Lisa” is trending on Twitter after a Spotify mistake.

K-pop fans have asked Spotify to apologize after making a mistake with the “Top K-Pop Artists of 2022” playlist.

The original playlist shows Lisa as the most streamed K-Pop solo artist of the year.

However, they claimed that BTS’ Jungkook should have received the title and rectified it.

Due to the confusion, Blackpink fans assumed that people targeted Lisa with derogatory remarks.

TDLR: Spotify accidentally made Lisa the top K-Pop artist of 2022 instead of BTS’ Jungkook and corrected it.

(1/2) Every year, we strive to accurately reflect worldwide consumption. With regards to our 2022 Top K-Pop Artists playlist, multiple genre tags lead to slightly different top ten lists and they are not properly merged. This mistake has been corrected.

Spotify tweeted an apology blaming multiple genre tags that weren’t properly merged.

“Multiple category tags lead to slightly different top ten lists, and they are not properly merged.”

Followed by, “We celebrate with our fans the many achievements of BTS and regret the mistake.”

The tweet has received more than 40.9k likes and is being criticized by K-pop fans.

The phrase “Sorry Lisa” has become one of the most discussed topics on Twitter with over 800,000 tweets.

Blackpink fans asked Spotify to apologize to Lisa for their mistake.

Obviously, the mistake made Lisa suffer a series of offensive comments.

Some Twitter users have gone as far as to accuse Lisa (and even her family) of having a relationship with Jeremy Erlich, Spotify’s Head of Music.

BTS fans were skeptical about the genre tag issue as BTS was the only band affected by it.

“If this was the fault of multiple genre tags, it would affect many artists, but this only seems to affect one, BTS. It’s not an error, it’s intentional manipulation.”

“We don’t understand why that problem happened to BTS and Jungkook and not anyone else from K-Pop. Really horrible and very disappointing.”
