Syncing media from a PC to an Android device is usually a straightforward affair because Android devices show up as media stored on the PC (unlike an iPhone). But on the other hand, wirelessly syncing your iPhone with iTunes is as simple as connecting your charger or pressing a button. On Android, there is no similar built-in solution. But thanks to a few apps, we were able to reproduce the same scenario between iTunes and Android.
Let’s dive in.
Note: Both the apps listed here have Mac and PC clients. The procedure detailed here is for Mac clients but I also tested Windows clients and apart from the installation process everything else is exactly the same.

Step 1: Launch the doubleTwist app after connecting your phone via USB to your Mac or PC and make sure you have it turned on Storage mode.
Step 2: On the left sidebar, select your device. On this screen, you can choose to sync your entire iTunes library or selected playlists. You can also import songs from your Android device to your PC. After selecting the relevant option, click Sync and wait for doubleTwist to transfer all media with artwork, metadata and playlist intact. You can then use the doubleTwist app or any other media player on your Phone to play the songs.
doubleTwist Wireless (Wi-Fi)
Setting up wireless is really simple and you only need to do it once.
Step 1: Launch the doubleTwist app on your Mac or PC and launch the doubleTwist or AirSync app on your Phone. AirSync is just a shell application, it opens the doubleTwist application.
Step 2: Slide from the left edge of the screen to reveal the sidebar. Clap Setting and in Category open AirSync select. Record the AirSync password.
Step 3: From the sidebar of the desktop app, select your device and enter the password we found in the step above and now your device should be paired.
The synchronization process is also detailed in Wired sync upper part. Once this setup is complete, you don’t need to repeat it. In the future, just launch the doubleTwist app on your computer, and as long as your Android phone is connected to the same network, it will show up – you don’t even need to launch the app. Just select a playlist, tap Sync and watch streaming songs without touching your Android device.
iSyncr
iSyncr is doubleTwist’s main competitor and offers similar functionality. It has Mac and Windows clients but it doesn’t offer a free client for wired syncing. The app costs $3.99 but you can download a 14-day trial with unlimited use for playlists with less than 100 songs.
If you’re looking for a wired option, there’s no need to buy iSyncr as doubleTwist’s free service is very stable. Here we will focus on wireless sync.
Step 1: Launch the Mac or Windows app and keep it running. The Mac app is a menu bar utility. It’s just there to send and receive data. All interactions take place within the Android app itself.
Step 2: Open the Android app and select I want… Sync over WiFi button. iSyncr will then scan the iSyncr desktop clients and iTunes library. When you spot your PC’s name, tap it.
Step 3: Now, on the Android app itself, you will see a list of all your iTunes playlists. Tap the playlist for more options like Sync to Default, Synchronize with internal or Synchronization with SD card. Choose your options. You can also choose the See option to view individual songs in a playlist but you cannot sync them one by one. To sync your entire iTunes library, select Music.
Step 4: Once you are done with the selection, tap the . icon sync now button at the bottom of the screen. iSync will now start syncing.
AirSync Vs iSyncr for Wireless Sync – Which is Better?
Let’s compare the two apps on different aspects.
The nature of the use
All commands for synchronizing with doubleTwist are provided on the desktop application. Whereas with iSyncr it all happens on the Android app. This is the most basic difference between the two. Normally, you download new music and add it all to your iTunes collection on your PC or Mac, so it makes sense to use an easy-to-use desktop app like doubleTwist. .
You don’t have to search your phone. Open the app, press Sync and you’re done. On the other hand, if you always have your PC on and use your Android phone to retrieve albums whenever you want, iSyncr can get it all done while you sit comfortably on the couch.
Speed
I created a test playlist of 27 songs from The Beatles’ album One that I purchased from the iTunes store. The album is 181.3 MB in size and it took 1 minute 45 seconds to sync it via iSyncr while the exact same operation was done via doubleTwist AirSync in just 59 seconds. That’s more than half the time. Impressive if you ask me.
Winner – doubleTwist AirSync
For wirelessly syncing songs from iTunes on your Mac or PC to your Android phone, the winner of my book is doubleTwist AirSync because the desktop app is incredibly easy to use, requires no fuss. Use any Android phone, almost twice as fast as iSyncr but half the cost.
