Yaw Shin Leong Wife: Meet Lau Wang Lin – Yaw Shin Leong had a multifaceted career as a Singaporean businessman and politician.
His political journey included being a Member of Parliament (MP) representing the constituency of Hougang Single Member Constituency (SMC) from 2011 to 2012 as a member of the opposition Worker’s Party (WP). However, his political career took an unexpected turn in February 2012.
Born on June 2, 1976, Yaw attended Bukit Panjang Government High School and Jurong Junior College for his secondary and pre-university education. He furthered his studies at the National University of Singapore, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA, Merit) degree in Political Science & Sociology, and later obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Western Sydney.

In 2004, Yaw entered into matrimony with Ng Mei Sze, who held esteemed positions as a dean and head of a department at a renowned school. Unfortunately, their union endured for approximately a year before being officially annulled.
Subsequently, in 2006, Yaw crossed paths with Lau Wang Lin, who would become his current spouse. Their journey led to marriage in November 2008, marking a new chapter in Yaw’s personal life.
Yaw Shin Leong joined the Workers’ Party in 2001 and swiftly rose through the ranks, becoming a member of the Central Executive Council (CEC) a year later. Despite facing challenges, such as the “suicide squad” label during the 2006 Singapore General Election, where he contested the Prime Minister’s seat of Ang Mo Kio Group Representative Constituency, Yaw demonstrated resilience, securing over one-third of the votes.
In 2010, he authored a Chinese book titled ‘Towards Political Vibrancy & Development,’ translating selected English blog posts reflecting on his decade-long political journey. Yaw’s significant political milestone came in 2011 when he won the Hougang SMC with an impressive 64.8% of the vote, the highest-ever margin of victory for the Workers’ Party in the constituency.
However, Yaw’s political career took an unexpected turn in January 2012 when rumors of an extramarital affair surfaced. Despite the controversy, Yaw refused to respond to the allegations, leading to his expulsion from the Workers’ Party on February 15, 2012. The party cited ‘indiscretions in personal life’ as the reason for his expulsion. Yaw, having resigned from his treasurer post earlier, did not contest his expulsion, resulting in his seat being deemed vacant.
Post-expulsion, Yaw relocated to Myanmar in late 2016. He founded Eduhearts Consultancy, an enrichment program development firm, and worked as the senior vice-president of Shenton Co, a private education training institute. Under the alias Amos Rao, Yaw managed several subsidiaries in Myanmar, including Temasek International College, which awarded degrees and diplomas in international business and hospitality.
