Apple TV sometimes feels disconnected from other Apple devices, and that’s especially true when you’re trying to install new apps or new software. The former is being fixed in iOS 10 as it may soon automatically download apps on other devices, but beta software is still a pain in the ass.

Apple recommends connecting your Apple TV to your Mac or PC and configuring the tvOS beta that way, but thanks to a great alternative, you can install it wirelessly and in no time at all. All you need is a computer to download the tvOS beta profile, Dropbox, iPhone or iPad, and the free Apple Remote app linked to your Apple TV.
Preparing to install tvOS Beta
First thing first. On your computer, you need to download the tvOS beta configuration profile. You can get it on Apple’s developer site.
Note: You need to be a registered tvOS developer
Now upload the .mobileconfig file to Dropbox. If you don’t already have the Dropbox app for iPhone, download it because you’ll need it later.
It’s time to switch to your Apple TV to complete some of the next steps. Go to the Settings app, select overviewselect Privacy then hover over Send to Apple menu item without clicking on it.
Instead, press the . button Pause play on the remote, will take you to a hidden screen to add your profile. Click Add profile and choose ALRIGHT when prompted.
Add wireless configuration profile
What we’re going to do is copy and paste the URL of the configuration file you uploaded to Dropbox into the field you see on your Apple TV screen. First, swipe to the backspace key on Apple TV. Long press it to remove the URL.
Open Dropbox on your iPhone and find the .mobileconfig file you added earlier. Touch Down arrow next to the file name and press Send linkthen touch Copy path.
Now, open the Remote app and make sure you’re connected to your Apple TV. Since the URL field is still visible on your TV screen, the keyboard will automatically pop up in the app.
Long press in the URL field and tap Paste. One last thing: drag the cursor all the way to the right of the profile URL and change “0” to “1”. Fight Return.
Install tvOS Beta
After you add the profile profile, your Apple TV will restart. If not, you can restart it before continuing.
Since configuring doesn’t actually install tvOS beta — but only allows it to be installed — you’ll need to do it manually. This is the easy part though.
Go back to Settings on your Apple TV and scroll down System. Select that, then click Upgrade software and finally Software updates. You will see that there will be an update that will install tvOS beta. Let it install and reboot and you’re good to go.
