1. You have exceeded the like limit
First, Instagram won’t let you like posts because it may have exceeded the like limit.
Once you’ve exceeded the like limit, Instagram will temporarily block your likes.
If you exceed your Instagram like limit or you like posts too quickly, Instagram may block you from liking.
There’s no specific Instagram like limit, but as a general rule you should try not to like more than 350 posts per hour.
Instagram is working to reduce spam on their platform, so action blocks are one of their anti-spam measures.
Also, liking posts too quickly can also lead to action being blocked.
If you like a lot of posts in a row, Instagram might think you’re a bot. Liking multiple posts at once runs the risk of being blocked from action.

3. If you’re blocked from direct messaging, you can still message other people you’ve messaged in the past. In addition, you can still reply to the person who directly messaged you first.
There are two different direct message blocks on Instagram—the action block and the “cannot create topic” error (link here).
If you are blocked from action, not only will you be blocked from direct messaging, but you will also be unable to like, comment, etc.
However, if you get a “cannot create topic” error, you will only be blocked from direct messaging to new people.
Either way, both of these blocks are temporary and they will be lifted within 24 hours.
Action blocks and “cannot create thread” errors are temporary blocks.
There are several ways you can use to avoid being blocked from action due to direct messaging.
For starters, you should never message someone directly over and over again.
Instead of sending 3 direct messages every minute, just send 1 direct message every 5 to 10 minutes.
I’ve tried various intervals to send direct messages, and sending 1 message every 10 minutes seems to minimize the action block altogether.
Also, whenever you send a direct message, use its different variations instead of copy.
For example, instead of just sending a direct message (for example, “Hi, nice to meet you!”), try creating different variations of that message.
At a minimum, you should create 3 variations of a sentence to reduce the risk of action blocks.
Let’s start with the example sentence, “Hello, nice to meet you!”.
You can create three other variations of it like “Hello, nice to meet you!”, “Hi, nice to meet you!” and “Nice to meet you!”.
This will make your direct message activities more like humans to Instagram, and you are less likely to be blocked.
4. You comment too fast
Fourth, you can comment on other people’s posts too quickly.
If you are a very fast typist, you may have a habit of commenting too quickly on other people’s posts.
There are many Instagram automation features on the web that people use to automate their actions (e.g. comments).
These bots will perform the actions for you, and they can perform them at a faster rate.
So if you comment too quickly, Instagram may think you are a bot and block you from commenting.
Even though you’re not a bot, Instagram will detect you as a bot if you comment too quickly.
To prevent this, you need to comment on posts for a longer period of time.
For example, if you are commenting 3 posts per minute, try to limit it to 1 post every 5 minutes. This will ensure that you won’t be blocked from commenting in the future.
Please note that if you are blocked from commenting, you will also not be able to like posts.

5. Use a third-party application or automation
Finally, Instagram won’t let you like posts if you’re using a third-party automation or app.

Otherwise, your Instagram account is at risk.
What does it mean when you are blocked from liking Instagram posts?
When you are blocked from liking a post on Instagram, you either exceeded the like limit or you liked it too quickly.

Typically, action blocks have an expiration date that tells you the date/time the action block will be unloaded.
In some cases, the action block does not include an expiration date. If that’s the case, you’ll have to wait up to 24 hours for it to be removed.
If you happen to get an action block with an expiration date, you’re in luck as it indicates when the block will be unloaded.
However, if you receive an action block with no expiration date, you won’t be able to tell when it will be lifted.
But don’t worry, the action block is not permanent and it will be lifted eventually.
What to do if Instagram blocks you from liking posts?
When Instagram blocks you from liking posts, you’ll have to wait. Blocks can last for several hours, 24 hours or even more.
There’s a lot of misinformation on the internet asking you to reinstall Instagram, switch to mobile data, or link your Facebook account, but none of them work.
Unfortunately, you will have to be patient and wait until the blocking is finished.
Don’t try to beat the system because it’s a waste of time.
