Born Kevin Joseph Huerter on August 27, 1998 in Albany, New York, United States to Tom and Erin Huerter. He was raised along with his siblings Thomas Jr., Meghan and Jillian in Clifton Park, New York.

On July 1, 2018, Huerter officially signed with the Hawks and had a four season career. He made his first 20-point game against the Indiana Pacers, during which he scored 22 points in a 116–108 loss.
