Who are Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois’ Parents?

Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois is the offspring of Gilles Dubois, a notable figure recognized for his contributions to both environmental and union activism. Gilles Dubois, one of Nadeau-Dubois’s parents, played a pivotal role in shaping Gabriel’s early exposure to activism.

Gilles not only engaged in environmental causes but also participated in union activities, demonstrating a commitment to social and political issues. Gilles Dubois’s influence on Gabriel extended beyond mere familial ties. Gabriel’s upbringing in an environment where activism was not just a familial tradition but a way of life left an indelible mark on his worldview.

Early in his life, Nadeau-Dubois was exposed to activism, as his parents were involved in the Jeunesse Étudiante Chrétienne and his father was an environmental and union activist. His interest in politics was nurtured during his youth, attending demonstrations and union assemblies with his father.

During his post-secondary student life, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois joined the Association pour une solidarité syndicale étudiante (ASSÉ) in 2007 and became a vocal figure in student activism. He pursued a humanities degree at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and played various roles within the student associations. He later completed a master’s degree in sociology at UQAM in 2016.

In 2014, his memoir, “Tenir tête,” earned him the Governor General’s Award for French-language non-fiction.

In March 2017, Nadeau-Dubois entered partisan politics, seeking the nomination as Québec solidaire’s co-spokesperson and candidate in the Montreal riding of Gouin.
