To chance to finally add Chimchar, Monferno, and Infernape to your Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Pokedex is one of the best perks in The Indigo Disk DLC; still, you’ll need this guide to tell how to find and evolve it first.
Even if you never used Chimchar in the Sinnoh-based Diamond & Pearl games or its remakes, adding this Gen 4 starter to your collection is a must. So, let’s dive into Chimchar’s Indigo Disk location.
How to get Chimchar in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
You’ll be able to get Chimchar by catching one in the Polar Biome within The Indigo Disk; but first, you’ll need to donate 3000 BP to complete the Terarium Club’s corresponding “Boost biodiversity” support board quest.

Completing these quests increases the variety of Pokemon that can appear in each biome – making starters like Bulbasaur or Popplio.
How to get more BP
To gather enough BP to donate in The Indigo Disk, you can get more by completing Battle Quests – which are accessible by pressing right on the D-pad. Although, building up the 3000 BP required does require some grinding, so be prepared to put a bit of time in.

Once the quest is completed by donating the necessary BP, Chimchar will start appearing in the snowy areas at the bottom of the Polar Biome’s map section as shown above. I found this to be a pretty common spawn, so you should be able to find one yourself with no problem
How to evolve Chimchar into Monferno
After catching your Chimchar, you’ll be able to evolve it into Monferno once it reaches Level 14. To make this process a little quicker, you can use Rare Candies for Exp. Candies if you wish to avoid grinding for experience points.
If your Chimchar is already at Level 14 and above, however, there’s no need to worry; the evolution process will still trigger every time it levels up again.
How to evolve Monferno into Infernape
All you need to do to have Monferno evolve into Infernape is get it to Level 36. Once it does, the evolution should start right away.
Like in the first stage, if your Monferno is already at Level 36 and above, it will still evolve once it levels up once more.
