Sara Pascoe is an English actress, comedian, presenter, and writer who has appeared on television programs including 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown for Channel 4, QI for BBC, and Taskmaster for the digital channel Dave.
Sara Pascoe was born to Gail and Derek Pascoe, a musician. Her great-grandmother was Rosa Newmarch, a poet and songwriter. Born in Dagenham, Greater London, Sara Pascoe grew up in the nearby town of Romford. Her parents divorced when she was young and her mother raised her.
She attended Eastbury Comprehensive School in Barking. She then attended the Gaynes School in Upminster. At 16, she became pregnant and had an abortion on her 17th birthday, an experience detailed in her memoir, Animal: Autobiography of a female body.
For a short time, Sara Pascoe wanted to study philosophy at Cambridge University, motivated by a love of Sophie’s novel The World and a desire to join Footlights, the university’s drama club. However, she read English at the University of Sussex, where she met and befriended Cariad Lloyd. After graduating, she worked as an actress and earned extra income by working temporarily, but found the job “hard to find” and filed for bankruptcy.

She has written two books. First, Animals: Autobiography of a female body was published in 2016. Her second book, Sex Power Money, published in 2019, explores sexual relationships (mostly heterosexual), with a particular focus on male sexuality and prostitution. He is informed by evolutionary biology and social research, as well as by his own experiences and emotions. She also hosts a related podcast of the same name in which she interviews people with experience in prostitution, stripping, and pornography.
In 2016, she continued touring with the program Animal. She joined series 3 of the comedy challenge show, Taskmaster, which aired on Dave in October and November 2016. She has appeared on three of Frankie Boyle’s BBC Autopsy shows (2014-2016), discussing political issues, and from 2017-2020 was a regular guest on Frankie’s current affairs series; Boyle’s New World Order. She also performed a half-hour stand-up in Live from BBC Series 2 Episode 1 in 2017.
On 27 October 2017, she appeared in an episode of the British travel documentary series Travel Man on Channel 4. In February 2018 she launched a BBC Radio 4 series called Modern Monkey.In April 2018 she appeared as a panelist in two episodes of BBC Radio 4’s Just A Minute. In May 2018 she starred in a short BBC comedy featuring titled “Sara Pascoe vs Monogamy”
In 2019, she was announced as the host of the Dave Comedians Giving Presentations series, in which comedians give stand-up presentations as a lecture. In February 2020, Dave announced that they were ordering two more series, with Season 2 to be filmed and aired in 2020 and Season 3 in 2021. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused projections to be delayed. The project was delayed and both films were shot at the National Gallery in London in the summer of 2021. Season 2 aired in November 2021 and Season 3 in April 2022.
In March 2019, she appeared in Traveling Blind with Amar Latif on BBC2. In April 2019, a live recording of Sara Pascoe’s LadsLadsLads Tour at the London Palladium was shown on BBC Two. In November 2020, she hosts An Evening With Yuval Noah Harari, a live book launch hosted by How to Academy and Penguin Books.
Sara Pascoe’s six-part comedy series Out of Her Mind premiered on BBC Two in October 2020. Exploring “grief, family, and how to get over it,” the series is loosely based on her own life, with Sara Pascoe playing a version of herself. Co-stars include Juliet Stevenson and Cariad Lloyd.
Sara Pascoe’s three-part BBC Two series The Last Woman on Earth starring Sara Pascoe premiered on 27 December 2020. In May 2022, the series was rerun for a second season, premiering on April 9, 2023. On September 16, 2021, it was announced that Sara Pascoe would host the eighth series of Great Britain’s Sewing Bee, replacing Joe Lycett.

Her thoughts on this relationship and its consequences formed the basis for her 2017 LadsLadsLads show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In 2020, she married comedian Steen Raskopoulos. In November 2021, she announced she was pregnant. In February 2022, Sara Pascoe gave birth to her first child and announced it on Valentine’s Day. In May 2023, she announced that she was pregnant with her second child and is vegan.
