Another week means another set of challenges for Modern Warfare 3 players to take on, and this time players need to secure Barebones kills in multiplayer.
Challenges often require you to get different medals in the game, but if you don’t know what the criteria is for a Barebones kill, you’ll be left wondering what exactly to do. We’ve covered how to get the medal below, along with some tips for smashing the challenge.
What are Barebones kills?
A Barebones kill is a medal you can earn for taking down an enemy player while using a gun with no equipped attachments.
Most experienced players on MW3 won’t get many of these naturally at this point in the game’s life cycle, considering they’ll likely have nearly all the weapons unlocked, along with many attachments for them.
Newer players on the other hand will find themselves getting more of these as they start out with the basic weapons and no extras.
How to get Barebones kills?

You need to think about your class and loadout when going for challenges, especially this one, so I’ve got some advice for how to approach it.
Firstly, it’s worth noting that many guns are much, much worse without attachments, specifically ARs, SMGs, and marksman rifles.
This isn’t as much of a problem for snipers and shotguns, so I recommend using these if you’re trying to go for the challenge.
You’re also still free to use whatever perks and gear you want, as this doesn’t infringe on the Barebones kill requirements, so it’s a good idea to make a proper class dedicated to smashing the challenge quickly.
Items like the Infantry Vest, Commando Gloves, and Lightweight Boots are all fantastic for giving you the mobility necessary to make the most of your guns without attachments. The Ghost T/V Camo also hides you from the radar, giving you more breathing room to get the kills you need.
