Two Xposed Modules for Better YouTube on Android

Many times we have talked about applications for YouTube with which you can listen to music even when the application is not running in the foreground. The only problem is, these are third-party apps that stream your playlists from YouTube as audio and are used to play in the background even when the app is minimized. These apps have been removed from the Play Store due to licensing (and non-compliance) issues, and as such, none of them have been around for more than a few weeks.

Today, I’m sharing two Xposed Framework modules that you can install on your Android device and get features like background playback and ad-free videos, right on the official YouTube app. Since Xposed Modules directly edit system files, changes are made directly to the apps themselves. Also, since these apps are not stored on the Play Store but on the separate Xposed Repository, they will most likely last longer.

So let’s talk about these two Xposed modules.

YouTube AdAway

Before I talk about modules, let me clarify. I am not against advertising, in fact, as a blogger, I can understand the importance of advertising for revenue generation. But what I am against is forced advertising. YouTube sometimes puts out ads before the video starts playing. Sometimes there is an option to skip the ad, but if it’s an exclusive (or viral) video, one is forced to watch 30 seconds of the ad before the actual content plays and that almost kills the mind. status.

Once YouTube AdAway is installed, it will block all ads in the app. The videos you want to play will start playing immediately and no ads will be shown to you. People who are using a limited data connection will enjoy saving on the bandwidth that has been wasted by these ads. The app also hides the logo and suggested suggestions in the app, but this option can be turned off in the YouTube AdAway settings.

The app is updated regularly with new versions of YouTube being launched in the Play Store. So wait no more before you can play your favorite music videos on your Android phone.

YouTube background playback

As the name suggests, YouTube Background Playback enables background playback in the YouTube app. The app doesn’t have any user interface and so there’s nothing about the app that you can control. It’s a pretty simple app and you just need to enable it in the Xposed Framework and reboot the device.

Xposed Youtube

Queue up a playlist in the YouTube app and press the Home button. The songs will continue to play in the background. To skip a song, you’ll have to open the YouTube app, as the app doesn’t provide a shortcut to the lock screen or home screen.

The app was last updated on June 30, and the developer has suspended development of the app. But it still works on the latest YouTube version. I’m not sure if the app helps save data while playing songs in the background but you can use any of these monitoring apps if you want to know.

Conclusion

These are two Xposed Modules that make watching YouTube on Android fun. There’s a good chance these apps might not work after the next major update in the YouTube app. We may have to wait for the developers to fix the app for upcoming versions. But if these apps don’t work, leave a comment below and we’ll make sure we find a working alternative.
