Transfer Files Between Two or More Androids Wirelessly

I’m sure you’ve been there before. You have an Android phone, all your friends have an Android phone, and all you want to do is exchange files, movies, music, and maybe even apps. Small files can be sent via Bluetooth, sure, if you want to send them one by one. But what if you want to send a movie?

Or more logically, you want to aggregate all the photos your group of friends has taken during a trip. There’s no easy way to do this other than uploading to Flickr or something. The application that we are about to talk about will solve all these problems.

Once all your friends have Xender installed and you’ve created a group, you can transfer files immediately. How? Follow the instructions below to find out.

How to set up Xender

In my testing, I used two phones but was able to connect more than two devices at the same time. Download and launch the Xender app on all devices.

From one of the devices, click phone connection. The first device needs to create a group, so tap Create a group. This will turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data and create a Wi-Fi hotspot. You don’t need to do anything, all this happens automatically.

Now, from other devices, click phone connection and press Join group. The name of the phone that created the group is displayed. Tap it and instantly, both phones are connected.

Now all connected devices will show the same screen. You will see tabs for Apps, Images, Media, Files And Take note. You can browse installed applications, images, media and files from the respective tabs. The Take note tab keeps a record of all the things you have sent and received.

Now, this is not an overnight thing. Each connected device can send and receive files. Choose what you want to send. You can tick apps, select files or images, and then tap Send button.

A small animation will show up and the files will be seen flying to the other phone’s icon at the bottom of the screen. And within seconds, they will show up on another device.

Xender can generate apks: When you choose to submit apps installed on your phone, Xender will generate apk file for them. So when you transfer the app, it will be transferred as an installable file. Simply tap on the received file and the installation will begin – just, make sure you have it turned on Unknown sources set word Protect tab below Setting.

Once you’ve done all the exchanges, tap X icon and leave the group. Everything will be back to the way it was. The app will turn off tethering and turn Wi-Fi back on.
