Curran played for the under-15, under-17, and under-19 KwaZulu-Natal Inland teams. After former Surrey captain Ian Greig saw him playing school cricket, he was invited to join the Surrey second XI in 2012 and moved to Wellington College in September of the same year.
In August 2013, he made his List A debut for Surrey against Essex as a senior, and in April 2014, he made his First Class debut against Cambridge University.
He was added to the Cape Town Knight Riders roster for the T20 Global League’s inaugural season in August 2017. But after initially delaying the competition until November 2018, Cricket South Africa called it quits in October 2017.
