The Deserter quest in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is one of the shorter side quests in the game, but it requires you to collect an item that some players may struggle to find.
The Lost Crown takes players to Mount Qaf, a mythical citadel that’s fallen under a curse, trapping it in time for the last thirty years. It’s a deadly place, so you’ll need all the help you can get, whether that’s upgrading weapons, collecting Sand Jars for rewards, or completing side quests.

How to start The Deserter in Prince of Persia
To start The Deserter quest, you’ll first need to grab the bow from the Hyrcanian Forest area, which you can find as part of the Lost in Qaf main quest.
After picking it up, head back to the first Wak Wak Tree in the forest. From here, drop down to the right continuously until you come to a new room with some stone arches above you.

Using your bow, you can now shoot the orange node on the left of the room. This will let you stand on a mushroom platform, so you can jump to the stone arches. Keep jumping across and then slide into the cave to find an NPC (marked on the map above).
Speaking to him will begin the quest, and he’ll ask for your help to find a way out of the cave.
How to complete The Deserter in Prince of Persia

To complete The Deserter, you will need to find a Cannonball in the Hyrcanian Forest and deliver it to the Soldier. Luckily, the item isn’t far (marked on the map above).
After getting the quest, head back out of the cave, drop down, and take a right. Follow this path along into the next room where you can see a small ramp below you. Drop down here and take a left.

You should see a body hanging from the ceiling just ahead. Attack this to cause it to fall, and then you can pick up a Cannonball from the body.
Now you just need to head back to the Soldier and give him the item to finish the quest.
