Tadhg Furlong career
Furlong is from an agricultural family in County Wexford’s Horeswood parish. At the age of sixteen, he began playing rugby at County Wexford’s New Ross RFC. He represented Horeswood in Hurling and Gaelic Football as well.
In November 2013, Furlong replaced a player for Leinster Rugby in their senior debut against the Dragons. He was a member of the Leinster A squad that took home the British and Irish Cup in 2013–14.
Furlong was elevated from the Leinster Academy to the senior squad prior to the 2014–15 campaign. Furlong was chosen for the Dream Team of the Year by World Rugby in 2021.
On August 29, 2015, Furlong played his first senior match for Ireland against Wales in a pre-World Cup warm-up match. On September 1, 2015, he was added to the Ireland World Cup roster.
Furlong began playing for Ireland in the Autumn Internationals in November 2016, which included the historic win against New Zealand on November 15, 2016. In the 2017 Six Nations Championship, he also participated as an Irish player.
Furlong was included in the Warren Gatland team for the British & Irish Lions’ New Zealand tour in 2017. In the series tie, he started the first three of the test matches.
Furlong was added to the British & Irish Lions 2021 tour roster on May 6, 2021, for their trip to South Africa.
