Today I will talk about a simple, free app called SyncDroid, available for both Windows and Android, which can backup your Android data to Windows or Dropbox in a snap.
First, check the Windows version of the application.
SyncDroid for Windows
SyncDroid for Windows is a plug-and-play tool. All you need to do is install the free software on Windows and plug your Android into a computer that has USB debugging option enabled. The application automatically installs the necessary drivers for the device, if necessary. Once your phone is detected, you will be able to see a live preview of your phone’s screen along with its memory consumption.
Now to back up the device, click Support , select the backup you want to make and start the process. The app does not provide an option to choose a backup path and files to be saved to Documents folder on your system drive.
When you need to restore, simply plug in the device and select the backup you want to take. The application will automatically overwrite any existing duplicate data. However, to back up messages, you will have to choose SyncDroid as your default message handler until the restore is done. This is due to a limitation in the Android system.
The app also offers the option to connect via Wi-Fi if you have the SyncDroid app installed on your mobile device.
SyncDroid for Android
SyncDroid for Android is also freeware, just like the Windows app. However, the app offers the option to create a backup on Dropbox along with your SD card. You can restore directly from your Dropbox account when needed.
While creating a backup for the first time, the app will ask you for permission to access your Dropbox account. Just log into Dropbox from SyncDroid and grant full access. This is important for creating folders and backing up files in the cloud.
