Stewart Milne career

As a significant shareholder in Aberdeen F.C., Milne first joined the board of directors in 1994, taking over for Dick Donald. In 1998, he was elevated to the position of chairman.

He holds honorary doctorates in technology from Edinburgh Napier University (November 2007), business administration from Robert Gordon University (December 2000), and property development from Heriot-Watt University (November 2007).

These degrees are granted in recognition of his exceptional entrepreneurial contributions to the building, construction, and real estate development sectors, as well as to the Scottish economy and higher education in Scotland.

The 2005 Scottish Entrepreneur of the Year was given to him. He received a CBE for his services to the Scottish housebuilding business in the 2008 New Year’s Honours.

Most recently, Milne was included in Aberdeen’s “Football Monitoring Board” when it was established. This task force was formed without the involvement of an AGM or an EGM, and its existence was unknown to the general public. Willie Garner, Steven Gunn, and Dave Cormack are other members.

In 1975, Milne established the housebuilding enterprise Stewart Milne Construction Group, located in Aberdeen. His company began with bathroom renovations.

In 2021, the Fife-based James Donaldson & Sons purchased the timber frame manufacturing unit of the Stewart Milne Group.

The company declared that the housebuilding company was for sale in April 2022. 217 jobs were lost when the company entered administration in January 2024.
