Simon Barnett is a New Zealand broadcaster and radio and television presenter who co-hosted the morning show on Christchurch radio station 92 More FM with Gary McCormick until 2018 and before that with Phil Gifford.
He hosted the breakfast show on 91ZM, worked for Radio Nelson and starred in the New Zealand feature film Ruby and Rata (1990). Simon Barnett also won the New Zealand version of Dancing with The Stars in 2015.
Simon Barnett is the host of the children’s television show What Now? from 1988 to 1992. He hosted the New Zealand version of the British music show Stars In Their Eyes from 2008 to 2009. He was the host of Miter 10 Dream Home in 2013 in the city of Kaiapoi, Canterbury after the earthquake. In 2019, Simon Barnett joined Newstalk ZB in Christchurch.
He spoke out against the proposed Child Discipline Bill in the New Zealand Parliament, supporting the “Vote NO” campaign in the 2009 referendum on corporal punishment.
Simon Barnett grew up in Ashburton, near Christchurch in Canterbury, attended Ashburton College from 1980 and graduated in 1984, when he was head boy. He has been married since 1991 to his wife, Jodi, and together they have four daughters. Jodi suffered a seizure, forcing Barnett to quit his role as host of the Christchurch More FM breakfast show.

It was revealed that Simon Barnett had been broadcasting from a home studio for about a year to be as close to Jodi as possible.
He revealed doctors only gave Jodi a few weeks to live after a five-and-a-half year battle with brain cancer. Jodi, 61, died early yesterday at the couple’s Christchurch home, with her husband and family by her side.
