Following his identification in photographs from the January 6 Capitol breach, Chansley was arrested on January 9, facing federal charges related to unauthorized entry into restricted areas and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. He pleaded guilty to a single charge in September, receiving a 41-month prison sentence in November 2021. Serving part of his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution – Safford in Arizona, he was later transferred to a halfway house on March 28, 2023, and released on May 25, 2023.

In November 2023, Chansley expressed his intention to run as a Libertarian candidate for Arizona’s 8th congressional district in the 2024 election.

Chansley’s military background includes enlisting in the United States Navy in 2005. After completing boot camp and training as a supply clerk, he served on the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk but faced dismissal after refusing an anthrax vaccine. Discharged from the Navy in October 2007, he held the rank of Storekeeper Seaman Apprentice, with military awards such as the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Apart from his political activities, Chansley self-published two books under the pen names Loan Wolf and Jacob Angeli, titled “Will & Power: Inside the Living Library (Volume 1)” in 2017 and “One Mind at a Time: A Deep State of Illusion” in 2020. Additionally, he created and narrated 11 videos expounding various conspiracy theories, which were uploaded to the Rumble platform in late 2020.
