Playing XI of England | T20 World Cup 2022

The English team has had a revolution in white ball Cricket ever since Eoin Morgan took charge. Their aggressive brand of cricket has become the modern approach that is now followed by a number of countries including cricketing giants India, Australia. The English side is packed with hard-hitters. Though the absence of Jonny Bairstow owing to injury significantly weakens the batting line up, yet there is enough fire power to trouble the oppositions. The strength of this English side lies in the number of all rounders they possess in their armoury.

Team England kickstart their World Cup campaign against Afghanistan on October 22. They will also face Australia New Zealand and two other teams from the qualifiers.

Let’s now look into the squad and the expected Playing XI of England for the T20 World Cup, according to Team Analystique.

Squad

Wicket keeper: Jos Buttler (c).

Batsmen: Alex Hales, Phil Salt, Dawid Malan, Harry Brook.

All Rounders: Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali (vc), Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, David Willey.

Bowlers: Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, Reece Topley, Mark Wood.

Probable Playing XI

Skipper Jos Buttler is going to open with Alex Hales. Hales will replace Jason Roy at the top of the order as the later is dropped owing to lack of form. The ever-consistent Dawid Malan is going to bat at no. 3 followed by Ben Stokes who is making a comeback to white-ball cricket. Either of Harry Brook or Liam Livingstone is going to find a place with the later being the more experienced. Moeen Ali and Sam Curran are expected to be the all round options.

The pace of Mark Wood would be very handy in the bouncy pitches of Australia. England will miss the services of injured Jofra Archer. But Reece Topley has been in great bowling form of late and would be the main bowler for England at the death. Adil Rashid would be the lone spinner in the XI.

Playing XI: Jos Buttler (c & wk), Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, David Willey, Mark Wood, Adil Rashid, Reece Topley.

Final Words

England go into the tournament as one of the favourites to win the title. If their bowling department fires, England would be the team to beat in this World Cup.
