Andre, a 16-year-old competitor on the Australian talent show New Faces in 1989, was given a $146,000 recording contract as a result of his participation. During this time, Andre attended Benowa State High School on the Gold Coast while residing in a Surfers Paradise apartment near the ocean.
Andre was flown to the UK to record his first song, “Drive Me Crazy,” and his breakout hit, “Gimme Little Sign,” at PWL Studios with producers Phil Harding and Ian Curnow.
