Nick Ahmed children-American professional baseball shortstop, Nicholas Mark Ahmed was born on March 15, 1990, in Springfield, Massachusetts in the United States of America.
Ahmed played baseball at East Longmeadow High School in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, where he also participated in basketball, was a member of the National Honor Society, and posted a career record of 21-3.
A shortstop and pitcher for the Connecticut Huskies baseball team, he then enrolled in the University of Connecticut, where he studied sports management.
He batted 288 as a freshman and 300 as a sophomore. In the summer of his sophomore year in 2010, he played baseball with the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Ahmed hit 326 as a junior.

Ahmed was selected 85th overall by the Atlanta Braves in the second round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft. In 2012, he competed in minor league baseball with the Lynchburg Hillcats, and Baseball America dubbed him the league’s fastest baserunner.
After the 2012 campaign, the Braves dealt Justin Upton and Chris Johnson to the Diamondbacks in exchange for Ahmed, Martin Prado, Randall Delgado, Zeke Spruill, and Brandon Drury.
The first time Ahmed got called up to the major leagues was on June 29, 2014. Odrisamer Despaigne gave him his first Major League hit. He was even in 25 games of hitting.70 at-bats for 200 runs.
As the Diamondbacks’ first-string shortstop in 2015, Ahmed. He hit.226 with nine home runs in 134 games. Due to a right hip impingement, Ahmed’s 2016 season was cut short, resulting in him missing the final two months of the year.
His right hand was broken by a fastball on June 27, 2017, forcing him to take a significant amount of time off. Two months later, during a rehab game, he was struck by a pitch, breaking his right wrist.
Ahmed was totally healthy before the 2018 season began, and he went on to finish the year with offensive season highs. Ahmed had a 153-game batting average of.234 with 16 home runs, 70 RBIs, and 33 doubles.
In addition, his defensive play improved, and he led all shortstops in the National League with 21 runs saved, earning him his first Gold Glove Award.
Ahmed extended his offensive revival from the previous year in the next year, hitting a career-high.254 with career highs in home runs (19) and RBI (82) while also winning his second consecutive Gold Glove Award.
Ahmed played in 57 games and hit.266 with five home runs and 29 RBIs during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. Ahmed played for the Diamondbacks in 129 games in 2021, recording a line of.221/.280/.339 with 5 home runs, 38 RBI, and 7 stolen bases.
For Arizona in 2022, Ahmed appeared in 17 games while batting.231/.259/.442 with 3 home runs and 7 RBI. He was put on the 60-day disabled list on June 8, 2022, due to inflammation in his right shoulder. Ahmed was the first player in Diamondbacks history to spend 10 seasons with the team when he did it in 2023.
