NFL Rumor Mill Getting Hot

The NFL is a weird league from top to bottom. The season ends in February, and then six weeks later is when free agency gets going, whereas it’s a bit faster in the others. They draft another month later, as opposed to MLB, which drafts in the middle of the season. Basketball and hockey both do things a bit more normally, where free agency comes after the draft. In football, you address your needs at different times.

Of course, NFL Odds change every second of every day. One move happens, and it can turn the whole league on a dime. There is a lot of quarterback chatter, some moves that are more likely to happen than others. The thing is, it’s a business more than anything. Some folks are always on the dirty end of a deal which makes things better for the stars. It’s just life in the league.

Let’s take a look at the rumor mill at what’s been going on.

Quarterback Updates

In Baltimore, it seems that the honeymoon might officially be over. It’s not going to be fun for them next season if they don’t get significant compensation when push comes to shove. Lamar Jackson formally requested a trade at the beginning of March, which he confirmed in a Twitter thread earlier in the week. The team had Super Bowl aspirations but could advance in the playoffs only once under his watch.

It’s definitely disappointing that they couldn’t win, but the front office also opted to add limited talent around him and traded what they did have prior to the year to address other needs. Many teams will be linked to him, as they should. He has an MVP to his name and is one of the greatest runners from his position of all time. Nobody can debate that.

In New York, they continue to wait patiently for Aaron Rodgers. He has verbally committed to the Jets already, but the Packers will be able to save a lot more money if they wait it out before moving him. It lowers the cap hit for them and allows them not to have to get rid of as much. It will make things exciting if he winds up there, officially. I

in a division with the Bills, Dolphins, and Patriots, it might become the toughest in the AFC beginning next season.

He has an 11-10 playoff record and has underachieved in the big games since winning the Super Bowl in 2010. But Aaron Rodgers has 370 more TDs than INTs and has been able to guide his team to the postseason on a consistent basis. That isn’t to be taken for granted in a league like the NFL. Keep your eyes glued to the transaction mill to find out if this ever becomes official.

Also, if you enjoy sports betting, look for the early Vegas NFL odds for Rodgers winning an MVP this season. He has been in this situation before and has won back-to-back MVPs after everyone says he’s not good anymore.

Is OBJ Worth It?

There have been articles, interviews, and rumors surrounding Odell Beckham Jr. all off-season long. Unlike some of the other stars of the past, he should be able to secure another contract in spite of what some might call noise.

That would mean that whenever he gets mentioned or comes up to join a team, there might be thought that baggage would come with him, and he might serve as some sort of distraction.

But let us remember that during his 2021 playoff run with the Rams, he caught 21 of his 26 targets for 288 yards and two touchdowns before getting hurt in the Super Bowl. This was the last time he suited up, and it seemed he would be able to do enough to help his team win.

They managed to secure victory in spite of the injury, as he proved he could still be that guy after struggling to get the touches he needed with the Cleveland Browns.

The only reason he is unsigned at this moment is the disagreement in the amount he should be getting paid. He deserves a lot more than some teams are offering, so we’ll see what he ultimately goes for. OBJ can still be elite, and it would be no surprise to see him as a Pro Bowler in 2023.

The first step is joining a team, and once he has penned to paper, the rest of the cornerbacks and safeties around the league can start quaking in their cleats a bit. No matter what, NFL lines for Super Bowl winners will change a lot for whichever team Beckham decides to join.
