New World Spring/Summer 2023 Roadmap

New World has released its plans for Aeternum for Spring and Summer 2023. Their roadmap indicates that many new contents are on their way, and players must wait for them to launch. With so many upcoming ways to earn New World gold, players will have their hands full exploring every additional content. What should adventurers expect for the first half of 2023?

New World 2023 Road Map

During their December 2022 Dev Talk, the developers of New World discussed a lot of upcoming content, including the Winter Convergence and several Territory fixes. Plans for New World accounts were also addressed as the devs announced all the upcoming updates for Spring and Summer. However, these topics were only discussed vaguely, and the developers did not discuss them in greater detail.

There is a lot of new exciting significant content waiting for players for each quarter, so players should expect substantial changes in the coming months. Devs mentioned that these things are not set in stone. There could be significant changes to the content going live on the server compared to the ones in the roadmap. It will all depend on the development and feedback from the community.

Spring 2022

Spring will focus on four changes in the game. Three of them involve new upcoming content to Aeternum, while the last is a minor improvement to existing ones. Here are the details regarding the Spring updates:

Empyrean Forge Expedition

This new expedition will be the first half of a two-part story. This topic wasn’t discussed in-depth, as devs only mentioned that the focus would be on the Varangians with a lot of emphasis on fire elements. It was also talked about how this expedition might be the first-time players will face humanoids as the primary enemy type. The devs have also hinted that this new challenge might bring some recent changes to the end-game progression.

Gear Set Storage

The Gear Set Storage is one significant development that even the devs are excited about. This feature will allow players to store various pieces of equipment in a single inventory, enabling them to swap between different builds for specific activities. New World has much content that works well with different types of setups, so storing and equipping weapons and armor more efficiently and conveniently is a vast quality-of-life upgrade.

Springtide Bloom Event

There will also be a new festival going to town when Spring arrives in Aeternum. The Springtide Bloom Event will see settlements decorated with various floral ornaments, as devs described the event as visually and aesthetically pleasing. Some of these include collecting Springtide flowers and catching bugs. Like most festivities, players can participate in various activities to earn tokens. These currencies can be exchanged at the time-limited event-exclusive shop.

MSQ Improvements

The main story questlines are also getting another set of improvements, especially after the community’s positive response to Windsward and Monarch Bluffs. According to the devs, the update will occur in Weavers and Brightwood. The aim this time around is to introduce more variety to the questing experience by introducing various activities and open-world boss fights. The developers also aim to improve the quality of life by bringing missions closer together to reduce travel time.

Summer 2023

The following season would feature a few more updates than the Spring patch because it will feature five main content. The main highlight for this batch is the upcoming Transmogs. Here is every forthcoming feature in Summer:

Transmogs

Your ability to change your appearance over replace the layer of your armor is a common feature in many successful MMORPGs. New World will finally implement Transmogs in Aeternum to allow players to keep their favorite armor or weapon displays and use the best sets. Aside from altering your equipment, this feature will also make use of an armor collection tab, allowing gamers to see the complete combinations of specific gear.

Raid Groups

Raid groups is a new additional feature that will let players team up to form 20-person groups. These large-scale parties will allow them to take on much harder PvE content that isn’t usually clearable with the regular crews. As mentioned by the devs, the giant creature lurking in Brimstone can be challenged and defeated by these 20-man groups.

The Sandworm Elite Trial

As mentioned, the giant sandworm in Brimstone will finally be unlocked as PvE content that 20 players can engage in. During the dev talk, it was discussed that this challenge would be the hardest trial adventurers will ever face. This encounter will be considered the ultimate goal for PvE players for the time being.

Cross World Outpost Rush

Due to the high demand from the community, devs will finally introduce cross-world OPR during the Summer. This feature will allow players to get into Outpost Rushes against adventurers in other worlds in the same region. The introduction of cross-world OPR will enable queues for this specific content to be much faster as you are more likely to find more people.

Devs have mentioned that introducing this system for OPR is just the starting point for more cross-world features. The studio is planning on developing more game modes with this mechanic. However, we only have specific details regarding other activities besides Outpost Rush.

Summer Medleyfaire Event

The last major update for this Summer is the yearly Summer Medleyfaire Event. As devs intended for previous festivals, they want to add more things for each festivity to improve them. Players should see for themselves if there will be something new this year. Some of the old features from the previous one, like the Maudlinbugs and Music Fest might also make a comeback.

Other Updates

Other upcoming updates still need to be included in the roadmap. These are minor fixes or changes that will continuously improve over the months. Here are all the things that devs will constantly update for this year:

  • Heartgem Runes
  • QoL Improvements
  • Cinematics

While players wait for the next update and dev talk, players can enjoy upcoming Forged in Aeternum episodes. Gamers can still participate in the Winter Convergence Festival until January 10, so this is your last chance to acquire all event-related rewards and New World gold. Players should stay tuned for more updates to see which content will make it into live servers.
