MW3 & Warzone Season 5 release date, WWE crossover, Atlas Superstore return & more

Season 5 of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone is fast approaching, with the last eight weeks of Season 4 coming to a close.

While most of the content coming in the new update is still under wraps, we have had a few teases about what we can expect to see. And of course, we know exactly when it will all be starting.

MW3 Season 5 start date

Season 5 of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone is expected to start on July 24, 2024.

This is when the countdown for Season 4 ends when looking at the current Battle Pass, and there’s never usually a gap between seasons in Call of Duty.

It was also confirmed by Call of Duty’s official social channels.

WWE x Call of Duty crossover

We’ve had The Boys, Diablo, and even Nicki Minaj – now, WWE is the latest franchise to throw its weight into the Call of Duty arena.

Teased on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, we see a wrestling ring shown under a bunch of spotlights. As the camera pans back, we see three shadows appear on the floor overlooking the ring.

Judging from previous crossover events, we can likely expect to see themed Operator skins drop as paid DLC packs. There will also likely be a couple of weapon blueprints themed around WWE.

Speaking to some WWE fans on our team, we speculate that the shadows could represent huge names in the sport, with John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Cody Rhodes, and Rhea Ripley all names we can see cropping up in the game.

Another familiar face making an appearance in Season 5 is the Atlas Superstore, a popular POI from Verdansk that’s being transplanted onto Warzone’s Urzikstan map.

Also revealed on X, we can see gameplay of the shopping mall shown as it’s integrated into the current Warzone map. It’s not the whole of Verdansk, but it’s a small taste that fans will surely lavish. A full return for Verdansk is hoped for during Black Ops 6’s tenure, but it’s rumoured to have hit a big delay.

It also wouldn’t surprise me if we saw the Atlas Superstore also make its way to MW3 in the form of a new multiplayer map. Activision has a habit of utilising iconic map layouts in its Warzone maps and vice versa. This is just speculation for now, however.

Other updates coming in MW3 Season 5

As for what else we can expect to see in Season 5, expect the usual tweaks to weapon balancing, a smattering of new maps, new weekly challenges, plus a brand-new Battle Pass with new cosmetics and weapons to unlock.

I’ll be sure to update this article when we have concrete information on what those maps and weapons look like, plus when we have more information on the above WWE crossover.
