Willis participated in 15 games while he was at Auburn between 2017 and 2018. In those two years, he ran for 309 yards and two scores in addition to completing 11 of 14 throws for 69 yards and a score.

Tannehill, who had worsened an ankle injury, was replaced by Willis in the starting lineup for Week 16’s game against the Houston Texans. He completed 14 of his 23 throws during the game, totaling 99 passing yards and two interceptions as the Titans fell short, 19–14.
