In a 101-95 overtime victory over the Sacramento Kings on November 28, 2016, Oubre achieved his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Five times in 2017–18, Oubre scored more than 20 points; on January 19, he set a career-high with 26 points in a 122–112 victory over the Detroit Pistons.
Trevor Ariza and Oubre were dealt to the Phoenix Suns on December 17, 2018, along with Austin Rivers. Two days later, he made his Suns debut, going 13 points for the team against the Boston Celtics in a 111-103 victory.

Oubre and the Phoenix Suns agreed to a two-year, $30 million contract extension on July 16, 2019. On December 5, Oubre defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 139-132 in overtime thanks to a career-high 15 rebounds, 14 points, and four blocks.
On November 16, 2020, Oubre was sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Chris Paul and Abdel Nader, along with Jalen Lecque, Ricky Rubio, Ty Jerome, and a 2022 first-round lottery pick.

He was injured in the left hand during a 121–113 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on December 29. Oubre had surgery on January 5, 2023, to repair a damaged ligament in his left hand, following which he was sidelined indefinitely.
On February 24, he played in his first game back, going 8 points and grabbing 3 rebounds in a 121-113 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Oubre inked a contract with the Philadelphia 76ers on September 26, 2023. On November 11, Oubre was hit by an automobile while out on a stroll close to his Center City home.
He was taken to the hospital, and it’s likely that he will be out for a while. Oubre was averaging 16.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 50% shooting in 29 minutes per game at the time of the crash.
